On July 13 from 9-11am we will be hosting the Be Your Own Bodyguard workshop! This 2 hour workshop is for women only. We are not trying to make you a fighter, we are teaching real world self-defense. This unfortunately is where most martial arts instructors miss out on. In our experience most "self-defense" seminars we've seen try and teach people how to throw a powerful punch or kick, we don't want you to have to do those things. We will teach you how to get off what we call the "X" in other words make you not a target to begin with. We are only opening this event up to 20 people so act now! You don't want to miss out!
This course is being taught by Thomas Griffin who has been involved in the martial arts and fitness industry for over 40 years. Why Should Your Child Train in Martial Arts?
Many studies show that children that train in martial arts are able to focus more which relates to better grades in school. Another reason is bullying, unfortunately in today's world being bullied is a part of life and we need to give our children all the tools we can to help them combat this problem. Your child will gain self confidence and build their self worth so if they do encounter someone trying to bully them they will be able to deal with it in the appropriate manner. We will get your child moving and exercising to help them as well as help them learn to set goals and to reach them. Why should my child train in Krav Maga over a traditional martial art? All martial arts including Krav Maga help your child with these points: - Self-Discipline - Exercise - Listening - Teamwork - Increases self-esteem and confidence - Conflict Resolution The difference between Krav Maga and traditional arts like karate is karate places most of it's focus on learning forms (katas) where Krav Maga places it's focus on teaching your child to defend themselves using their most powerful weapon their mind, and if necessary their body.
Here is a video of the 12 angles we have been going over in class. Remember these are only angles not targets. Also please keep your empty hand on your chest, this will come into play later when we start working on gun defenses.
